Overview

In the UK the language commonly spoken is English. You really need to know the language, at least at an intermediate level, in order to be able to properly interact and understand what is happening around you.

It is particularly important to have some grasp of the language if you have moved to the UK with your family and you have young children.

Courses

The good news is that English courses are widely available throughout the UK. In London in particular there is a very wide choice of courses at all levels and for every budget.

You could decide to go on a course with regular classes over a certain period. Solutions which prove to be particularly effective are the so called “full-immersion”. These are intensive courses that normally last up to one month, whereby you are a resident student in a language school (normally located in an environment where you are forced to speak English everyday).

Where to look

Web search engines are a good way of finding a language course provider institution. You are strongly advised to search for comments from previous students (once again, often easily available on the web).
